NAPLES, Fla. A threat called into Naples High School on Thursday was unfounded, Naples police said.

Some students could be seen practicing on the school’s track and otherwise going about normal activities Thursday afternoon once police determined there was nothing to the threat.

Students were initially told to go the Coastland Center mall across the street as police investigated Thursday morning. Cellphone video shows several students running through the mall. Some of them had their parents pick them up there.

Remaining students were taken to Gulfview Middle School, the Collier County school district said.

Students from the Little Eagles preschool, which shares the high school campus, were taken to Lake Park Elementary.

Golden Gate Parkway between Goodlette-Frank Road and U.S. 41 was shut down around 10 a.m., the Naples Police Department said. It reopened shortly after 12:30 p.m, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

Parents formed a lengthy line at Gulfview Middle to pick up their children.

Anyone who wasn’t picked up was bused back to Naples High School once the threat was over.
